Houston Symphony is proud to welcome Juraj Valčuha as the organization's new Music Director. Following a weekend of performances as Music Director Designate, Valčuha will formally begin his appointment with the 2022–23 season, succeeding Andrés Orozco-Estrada, whose tenure concludes at the end of the 2021–22 Season. 


An internationally acclaimed conductor, Valčuha previously served as the Chief Conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai from 2009 to 2016. He also serves as Music Director of the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, and First Guest Conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
